Leyla Cárdenas Tavie

Associate investigators

Academic, professor at the Institute of Environmental and Evolutionary Sciences of the Faculty of Sciences of the Austral University of Chile. She is currently dean of the Faculty of Sciences and co-investigator of a Fondef project that seeks to generate nanobioparticles based antifouling paints.

At the IDEAL Center, she has dedicated herself to studying the connectivity between the subantarctic and Antarctic zones, has described biological diversification processes in marine invertebrates in both areas and has helped to understand the biodiversity of parasites. He works on understanding dispersion and adaptation mechanisms of potential invasive species using genomics and environmental DNA (eDNA.)
