José Barrena Ruiz
Assistant professor of the Department of Natural Sciences and Technology of the University of Aysén. Associate Researcher at the Transdisciplinary Center for Environmental Studies and Sustainable Human Development of the Austral University of Chile.
Degree in Economic Sciences from the University of Chile, Master in Rural Development from the Austral University of Chile and doctoral candidate from Wageningen University in the Netherlands.
He has dedicated himself to investigating the relationship between the establishment of spatial limits and the mobility of different social groups from a sociological perspective. His most recent research has focused on the socio-spatial disputes arising from the establishment of protected areas, the increase in nature tourism, the expansion of salmon farming, and the spatial demands of the canoeing peoples in the Magallanes Region.
