Dr. Silva obtained his undergraduate degree as a Biochemist and his PhD in Aquaculture Sciences from the Universidad Austral de Chile.

A specialist in aquaculture research, Dr. Silva did postdoctoral work with the company Ewos (now Cargill). His unique, pioneering studies on oral delivery were useful to the development of the salmon industry. Dr. Silva has also applied for, developed, and managed Corfo and Innova Bio Bio projects.

Dr. Silva’s research has been developed within a highly collaborative framework private companies and national universities such as the Universidad de Concepción, Universidad Austral de Chile, and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. At the latter, he did postdoctoral studies in the area of oral delivery and substance microencapsulation. His work with foreign universities resulted in technology transfer from the University College London (England) to Chile
