Gustavo Ferreyra

Director of the Austral Center for Scientific Research (CADIC) in Ushuaia, under the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET, Argentina).

He obtained his BSc in Ecology of Renewable Natural Resources at the National University of La Plata, and then completed his MSc and PhD studies in Biological Oceanography at the Institut des Sciences de la Mer de Rimouski (ISMER, University of Quebec at Rimouski, Canada). He worked at the Argentine Antarctic Institute as a researcher and then as Professor/Researcher of Phytoplankton Ecophysiology at ISMER.

His main scientific interests have been the study of the effects of anthropogenic disturbances on Antarctic and sub-Antarctic marine plankton, such as the increase of ultraviolet B radiation and the impacts of climate change.
