Carla Mellado Zambrano

Research Assistants

Marine biologist and Master of Science in Water Resources from the Austral University of Chile. She has worked as Research Assistant and Phytoplankton Analyst in public and private entities, whose projects have been mainly associated with monitoring Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) between Valdivia and Chiloé.

Her research interest is focused on phytoplankton ecology, oceanography and water resources associated with fjords – glaciers of Patagonia and Chilean Antarctica, in a context of climate change. At the IDEAL Center, she is in charge of analyzing microplankton in the water column and sediment traps.
