A team of academics from the UACh were recognized for their contribution to various areas of knowledge.
Researchers from the Center for Dynamic Research of High Latitude Marine Ecosystems (IDEAL) and professors from the Institute of Marine and Limnological Sciences—both from the Austral University of Chile (UACh)—Dr. Humberto González, Dr. Iván Gómez and Dr. Jorge Navarro, were highlighted in the second edition of the ranking carried out by the scientific portal Research.com.
On this occasion, they were recognized for their contribution to the disciplines of Ecology and Evolution and Environmental Sciences, contributing to positioning the UACh among the best universities in this area of research.
To prepare this ranking, the number of publications and citations of papers obtained by the researchers were considered, data that was consolidated by reviewing various sources of information, including the OpenAlex and CrossRef catalogues.
“In terms of the positioning and impact of scientific research in Chile, the IDEAL Center has contributed to raising the ranking of the UACh from sixth to third place in the areas of Ecology and Evolution and Earth Sciences and to fourth place in Environmental Sciences. The role of the centers of excellence is not only to produce science to contribute to the sustainable development of the country, but this must be done hand in hand with robust national and international collaboration networks to address the challenges of the 21st century,” highlighted Dr. Humberto González, director of the IDEAL Center.
